Dell has come out with the world’s first wireless charging laptop, the Latitude 7285 2-in-1 notebook computer. The versatile tablet with an attachable keyword is also the world’s thinnest and lightest Windows-based convertible.

A report by The Verge had earlier explained, the keyword is the key to the wireless charging feature. (Although, the keyword comes with a caution that it cannot be used on a metal surface.) The hybrid laptop can be charged on Dell’s new desktop wireless charging pad, which delivers 30W of power. (The wireless charging mat is Airfuel Alliance certified.)

World’s First Wireless Charging Laptop

Dell Latitude 7285 offers professionals a seamless user experience by removing all barriers to true mobility. Individuals can seamlessly go from presenting and sharing information at any place without ever having to worry about plugging in.

The 2-in-1 Latitude 7285 is embedded with WiTricity’s magnetic resonance wireless technology. This means that when you need to recharge the tablet, all you have to do is connect it to the keyboard and place it on top of the wireless charging pad.

Latitude 7285 is equipped with an Intel core i5-7Y54 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD. In addition, it sports an infrared camera and Windows Hello for password. It also supports an active pen with less interface leg to deliver a smooth experience of working on a pen and a paper.

The world’s first wireless charging laptop is priced at $1,199. The Wireless Charging Keyboard costs $380 and the Charging Mat is $200. Latitude 7285 2-in-1 is available for sale on Dell’s official website.

Ditch the wires

Back in 2014, Intel announced it plans to make wireless charging technology as the centerpiece of all devices. It’s been three years, and so far, Dell Latitude 7285 is the only laptop in the market which offers wireless charging. Microsoft has done a similar thing with the Surface Pro. Shell out $160 separately to buy the Surface Keyword. Couple it with the tablet and you’re paying $1,460 for a Surface Pro 2-in-1 notebook computer. The Surface Pro comes with a 12-inch display, a Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 12GB of SSD storage.
